<<GLOBAL FAMINE/MALNUTRITION SOLUTION (1975)>>
In recent years, much has been written about global food shortages and whole
nations of malnourished and starving people. In fact, some of the more realistic
writers have admitted that the planet is in the early stages of a global famine
and ecological collapse.
The few feeble solutions that have been offered consist of "technological
cultures" exporting their capital and energy intensive chemical agriculture to
the "underdeveloped cultures" at a high profit, while the food supply in the
"technological cultures" continues its rapid decline in quality and quantity, and
the and the stability of the ecosystem in the "underdeveloped cultures" is
devastated (e.g. the Green Revolution). These technological fixes simply don't
work. The reason is that they create gross violations of the Natural Laws and
processes that have been evolving on the planet for billions of years. Humans
must learn the they cannot fool Mother Nature and must learn to live in harmony
with Her laws. If the human species becomes too much of a nuisance, it will be
exterminated for the well being of the millions of other species of life on the
planet.
The following solution to the world food problem is simple and effective
because it involves a return to Natural Law.
The natural diet for the human species is uncooked fruit, green leafy
vegetables, and small amounts of nuts and seeds. Documentation supporting this
statement and techniques of achieving it are given in the bibliography.
The following changes in cultural eating patterns must be brought into effect
on a global scale immediately in order to cause meaningful long term effects on
the famine.
The facts that eating animal products causes many diseases, shortens life,
and is extremely inefficient in yielding edible product per acre used are slowly
becoming well known. Various sources indicate from 10 to 20 times as much
protein per acre is produced if the product is plant rather than meat. Another
factor of 10 is realized when fruits and nuts are grown instead of conventional
grains and vegetables. Cooking destroys the nutritional elements of food to the
extent that cooked food eaters consume 10 times as much as those whose diet is
raw. About 90% of the world food supply spoils on the way to the table,
therefore, simple refrigeration and insulation could give another factor of 10.
The multiplicative effect of humans returning to a simple uncooked diet of
fruits, vegetables, and nuts is to produce 10,000 times the current world food
supply.

NOTE: The above information has been distributed to a variety of allegedly
"interested" individuals and groups in the past 18 years (R. Buckminster Fuller, Margaret
Meade, the Secretary General of the United Nations, Prince Charles of Wales, Prince
Sadruddin Aga Khan, Science magazine, The Club of Rome, Lester R. Brown, The Worldwatch
Institute, The World Constitution and Parliament Association, The Guinness Book of Records,
and all those agencies that stuff one's mailbox with pictures of starving children, among
others). Not one meaningful response has been received. In the same period, the quality
and quantity of food in the "developed" countries has deteriorated precipitously as
chemical agriculture has poisoned croplands to the brink of ecological collapse. Every
major health research organization has warned of the disastrous results of a meat, junk
food, and processing-chemical diet, yet the only "solutions" offered are to export more
poisons, more ecology destroying technology, and more debt (e.g. "The Green Revolution", an
incredible disaster, the real purpose of which was to addict "Third World" countries to
deadly, ecocidal "First World" destructive technology). Are we to believe that the feeble
efforts put forth are motivated by sincere interest in human survival or health, or perhaps
the possibilities of industrial profit??
Reforestation of the planet with food, fiber, and construction material producing trees
and plants would:
1> end the global famine/malnutrition megacrises
2> dramatically raise human health levels planet-wide
3> reduce unnecessary human mortality, thus reducing the need for high birth rates
4> stabilize the global population
5> increase the area of human habitability and reduce population density
6> increase the areas and variability of animal and plant habitability
7> reverse the current trend of precipitous extinction of plant and animal species
8> stabilize, then eliminate, the current climatic changes caused by deforestation
9> reduce atmospheric pollution and the "greenhouse effect"
10> assist the planetary ecosystem/biosphere to heal itself
11> rebuild the topsoil destroyed and lost by "agriculture"
12> reduce atmospheric dust, topsoil erosion, and river silting
13> ensure the long-term survival of the human species
